Be Part of A Great Team to Make A Lasting Impact
Our volunteers are the heart of El Buen, generously giving their time and talents to further our mission. Volunteers provide support that allows us to maximize limited resources. You can choose to volunteer in adult education, youth education, food pantry and special events.
All volunteer opportunities require a semester long commitment with a minimum of volunteering one-day a week. For group volunteer opportunities, please contact email@example.com. All in-person volunteer opportunities require COVID-19 vaccination.
Help us prepare or distribute food to our community via our drive-through style food pantry. Monday – Thursday morning shifts available.
Become a Lead Instructor or Teaching Assistant! Some teaching experience and Spanish preferred! We train all volunteers and provide all resources needed.
Help 1st-8th graders in our community improve in academics, physical activity, nutrition, and social and emotional learning by becoming a tutor & mentor!
Our in-person summer camp is designed for children entering 1st – 8th grade. It is composed of two month-long sessions from June through July.
How Do I Become A Volunteer?
Interested volunteers must complete the steps below:
- Complete the online application and consent to a background check.
- Participate in a new volunteer information session, including a job match interview.
- Attend Safeguarding God’s Children and job-specific training.
Does El Buen Need Help With Community Events?
Yes! We utilize help from hundreds of volunteers for community events, including several church groups, service organizations and Austin-based companies. Our yearly community events include Outdoor Kids early in the year, Hands for Hope in November, and Posadas at El Buen in December. Hands for Hope and Posadas at El Buen are our holiday events where 1,500 families are provided with a complete Thanksgiving meal. Volunteer applications for our holiday events go live in October of each year.
Can I Complete Community Service Hours At El Buen?
Because most of our volunteer positions require training and involve direct service delivery with our clients, we are usually not the best fit for community service volunteers.
