This training equips Community Health Workers with practical skills and reflective tools to confidently navigate conversations about mental health, trauma, and suicide with cultural humility and care. Participants will draw on both professional and lived experience to explore effective, compassionate communication using the 7 steps of the CHW Communication Guide for Promoting Health, including strategies for responding to resistance or pushback. Through self-assessment, peer learning, and guided discussion, participants will identify strengths and growth areas while sharing tips for improvement. The training also highlights best practices for making referrals and connects participants to local and national mental health resources.
