We recently partnered with our friends at YWCA Greater Austin on their Dia de Los Muertos Community Mural Project.
Through the community mural project, the 3 amazing murals honor and amplify the voices of Women and Women of Color. They also celebrate our ancestors and honor them by continuing to fight for the rights of Women in Central Texas. A third of Austinites are Hispanic or Latinx, almost twice the United States average. This is a community whose voices we cannot afford to miss out on.
Our CEO, Dr. Rosamaria Murillo, spoke at the unveiling at the Planned Parenthood mural, the place where 35 years ago she started her career in social work. She stood on the front line for Women’s rights in the same place she helped continue the fight for justice – “Justicia” – today.
The murals can be seen at Garza Independent High School, Austin Pets Alive Thrift Store (5102 Clarkson), and Planned Parenthood (1823 E. 7th Steet)
