Navigating the Maze: Consent, Confidentiality, and Access to Health Care for Texas Youth, Texas Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy

Spring 2021 Training Series Presented by El Buen Samaritano in collaboration with People’s Community Clinic, The Texas Council on Family Violence, CARDEA, UT School of Nursing, and The Texas Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy.

This spring, El Buen Samaritano’s Community Health Worker Training and Leadership Center will host our second inaugural CHW training series. The series will be hosted virtually and open to all whom are interested. CHW and other Continuing Education Credits, such as those for social workers will be available for most of these trainings, as noted.* They will be held from 9AM – 12AM every other Wednesday morning, unless otherwise noted. The training sessions will begin March 24, 2021 and run through June 30, 2021. This course will be presented by one of our region’s experts on Texas laws around minor consent to health care, specifically focusing on reproductive healthcare. We will discuss patient confidentiality, reporting requirements, programs that provide reproductive care (including Title X) and the consent requirements within these programs, as well as focus on activities to identify personal value systems and beliefs that practitioners may bring into the clinic.
